Last week, I wrote a column for the York Sunday News on being dumbfounded by my iPhone. Yep — even at 24, when most of my peers are checking in on FourSquare and looking up directions on the fly, I only recently purchased my first smartphone.
So I understand the questions that come with new technologies. And, so does York County Libraries. Two branches are offering tutorials for folks who want to learn how to use their e-readers or download e-books or e-audios from the libraries’ eBranch.
From 2 to 4 p.m. Mondays and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, volunteers at Glatfelter Memorial Library (101 Glenview Road, Spring Grove) will help patrons learn how to download library books. “Some devices use apps and for others you must download the library e-book to a computer and then transfer it to a device via WiFi or USB,” the event description explains — but as long as you bring the necessary equipment, they can help! From 2 to 4 p.m. March 7 and March 21, stop by the Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock (32 Main St., Glen Rock) to receive help from staff members in figuring out your e-reader. The sessions are not age-specific — anyone with questions on using their device or downloading e-books is welcome. Call the library at 717-235-1127 with questions.
